Happy Fourth!
Hi Ty! It was so good to talk to you this week. Good to see you feeling better! And also it was so good to hear about the potential of teaching a new family. I hope everything goes well with your new friends and that you are able to see some positive changes in your new area. You are a hard worker and your heart is committed to this missionary work. I'm so proud of you!
This is what we were up to at home:
- Ethan left bright and early on Monday morning with his friend Landon to go to FSY at BYU. He had a really great and uplifting week and made a lot of new friends. “Best week of his life!” I missed having him home!
- Meanwhile, Blake and I went bright and early to the county health department to get Blake’s mission immunizations. One more thing checked off the box!
- Tate had more swim lessons. He’s a little fish!
- Jett went to football training this week and his coaches are not stoked about the broken arm (again). He’s been having fun with trading cards lately, and Nate’s mom took them out to a trading card store where he added to his collection. He also got invited to go boating with the Hancock family and had a ton of fun out on the tube. So even though Jett got stuck doing all of Ethan’s dishes while he was away, it was a good week for him.
- Thursday night Blake went to the temple for the first time! It was a really nice night, and it was awesome to have grandparents and aunts/uncles come support him.
- After the temple we went home and joined the “Cul-de-sac of Fire” party happening in the Roylance circle. We missed the BBQ, but got there in time for the fireworks show, and Joseph Roylance outdid himself this year. Honestly there were so many huge fireworks that if felt like a city firework show!
- Friday was the Fourth of July and Dad was so excited to go to the Kaysville parade! He dropped us off just in time to get good seats right before the parade began. Jett and Tate collected plenty of candy, and Blake got to experience for the first time what wearing an extra layer of garments feels like in the heat! We watched fireworks that night from Jim and Becky’s house. It was awesome to miss all the traffic, but it’s just not the same as watching at the park with 1000s of your closest friends and neighbors!
- Friday afternoon we had a weird rain storm. The storm rolled in and there was a windy downpour for several minutes and then hail. When it all cleared up I could hear a lot of sirens and emergency vehicles. Lightning had struck the wetlands in West Kaysville and sparked a fire. There are no roads accessing that area, so it’s difficult for emergency responders to put the fire out. Luckily it wasn’t close to any homes, and as of Saturday night it was 70% contained.
- Dad got up super early on Saturday (bless him) to go pick up Ethan from BYU, and then they both went with Blake to Snow Basin to mountain bike. It sounds like it was a bit of a harrowing experience for Dad. He did not get hurt, but I’m not sure he will ever do that again!
- Saturday was a yard work day for me. I planted new blackberries and grapes, and I hope they will thrive in our new garden area! But planting in July is not ideal because of the heat, so I might have to do it all again in the spring!
Love you Ty! Have a super week and talk to you soon.
