Finding Nemo, Spring "day," and patriarchal blessings

Hello my dear! Happy P-day! I always look forward to talking to you and getting an update. It was great to talk to you and hear about your transfer to Singapore. I know you will grow to love this area just as you loved Sibu and Puching. And there will be blessings related to serving in an area with a strong ward. I hope you enjoy serving with your new companions. I imagine having 3 of you will be challenging at times, but also pretty fun. And of course, everything is temporary! I look forward to learning about your new area. What are the people like? How is the community similar/different to Malaysia and the US? How is the church culture similar or different there? What is frustrating, what is awesome? I miss you every day. But I am so proud of you, and I’m so grateful you have this opportunity. Serving a mission will bless your life in ways you may never fully understand.

We had a good week here. This is what we've been up to:
  1. This was a fun week for Jett. He had dress rehearsals and 4 performances for Finding Nemo Jr. He played Bruce the Shark and absolutely killed it! I got to help backstage and it was a lot of fun.
  2. Jett also got to play in a baseball tournament this weekend, and he played really well. He’s been pretty disappointed when games and practices get cancelled because of weather.
  3. Games were definitely cancelled this week, because we got a ton of snow. I’m over the cold weather!
  4. The high school notified Blake that he was eligible to apply for a scholarship, so he applied and was selected to represent Farmington High as an applicant. So he had a few more things to add to his application this week, and he will be competing with students from others schools for the $2000 scholarship. Hope he wins it! He absolutely deserved the award and recognition.
  5. Jett and Ethan got to go to Flowrider for their young mens activity this week.
  6. Dad had a stressful situation at work resolved this week, and is relieved!
  7. Uncle Adam announced that he has been asked to temporarily manage a manufacturing plant in Columbus, Ohio. It will mean that he has to fly out and spend the week in Ohio, and then come home on the weekends for a few months. It will be hard, but he thinks it’s a good professional opportunity. Uncle Andrew also started a new job this week. I don’t have any more details than that! I hope it is a good fit for him.
  8. Michael had his “Spring Day” off of school on Friday, so of course he made plans to get out of town! He invited Blake and Natalie to join him and some friends to camp in Moab. Apparently the nights were COLD, but the climbing was good!
  9. This week I’ve been working on fixing the seat on an old chair that belonged to my grandparents. So far I’ve managed to take off the nailheads and staples and the old foam and torn leather. Will I ever finish this project? TBD.
  10. Today Ethan received his patriarchal blessing. It is always such a neat experience to go with our kids and listen to their unique blessings. Today was a little different than other times because the patriarch’s wife also joined us, and they talked to us about their callings and how they prepare to give and transcribe the blessings. It was interesting to me to learn that the patriarch only gives one blessing a week. So he has all week to pray and think about the person he will be receiving on Sunday and seek inspiration. I think that must be a really cool calling to have. Your dad would be good at it. The blessing Ethan received was just for him, and I think showed Ethan that the Lord knows him as an individual. I look forward to getting a copy and reviewing it.
Until next week!

Love you,
Mom
