Super Bowl Sunday
Fun to talk to you tonight Ty! It sounds like you’ve had a good week. I’m excited for you to be able to stay longer in this area with Elder Mecham, and I know you will do great work as a zone leader. I enjoyed the story of your “small miracle.” Sometimes you never learn what kind of an influence you have on people—but the more you look for God’s hand in your life, the more you will find it.
I’m sorry, but this has been a super boring week and I don’t have much to share. This is what we've been up to:
- Tate has his last basketball game of the season.
- Jett, Ethan, and Blake got to go night skiing for mutual. Jett is loving being in young men’s. And Blake said skiing was way more fun than he remembered it being.
- I finished my National Parks puzzle that we got for Christmas. And today I’m going to open a Singapore puzzle that Amy Grant from our old ward offered me!
- Jett and Ethan are working hard to get ready for Federation coming up. Lots of good music in the house!
- Ethan got asked by a cheerleader to be her dance partner in an upcoming assembly. He has to learn a 5-minute dance! I’m excited to go watch it!
- I’ve been working on a lot of tedious home improvement projects. We got the fireplace back up and running, repaired the leaky toilet. Installed some wallpaper in the pantry. Paint touch ups. I’m half way done replacing the baseboard material in the court. It feels good to be productive, but also I’m tired of fixing things. Thank goodness for YouTube university!
- Dad has been working hard on our side yard project. On the west side of the house we are going to pour concrete and build a shed and some new garden boxes. On the East side we are going to pour more concrete and maybe put in an emergency power generator. And while we are at it we can finally fix the gate that was damaged in the wind. Dad has been calling contractors to get bids and designing the shed he wants. Before we can build the shed and pour concrete we have to clear out all of the old garden boxes and plants—a huge project! Yesterday we went out and started emptying all of the dirt from the garden boxes. The boys started digging up blackberry plants, and I chopped down the rose bush and the grape vines. It’s kind of sad to cut it all down. But I’m also relieved. That side of the yard has been so much work to weed and take care of! Hopefully the new design will require much less maintenance. And hopefully some of the grapes and blackberries survive so I can replant them when the new area is ready.
- Jett is feeling sick today. He’s watching home videos of when you were a baby and working on his legos. And he finished his car lego set that he got from Christmas.
- Today is the superbowl! Grandma is renovating her basement and doesn’t want to host dinner until it is finished, so we are hosting dinner tonight. I’m going to make Muddy Buddies in your honor. Blake asked me what we were having for dinner and I told him Baked Potato Bar. He said “Yes! I love baked potatoes!” And I don’t even know who this child is anymore! (PS. Eagles beat the Chiefs 40-22.)
- My friend Janie told me her friend’s son just got called to Singapore speaking Mandarin! He starts home MTC the end of June. Maybe you will meet! His name is Ben Myers and he’s from Cedar Hills.
Love you Ty! Have a fantastic week!
Xoxo, Mom
