Christmas Clue Hunt 2024

Christmas Clue Hunt 2024

First clue

1.

It’s time once again to go hunt for some clues

Will the gift at the end be something just for you?

Don’t get your hopes up. It’s not too exciting.

Still---more precious than gold---without all the bling.

Let’s all walk together down memory lane

To the spot where children’s faces hang by a chain

Without further ado go find clue number two!

(Clue hanging by Mom’s necklaces)

2.

Tate

Did you know Tate has two wiggly teeth?

When the tooth fairy comes they will be waiting beneath. . .

(Tate’s pillow)

3.

Jett

Jett---AKA Drip Lord was king of the playground

The butler in Frozen and mayor of BizTown

His food combinations grossed out all his lunchmates

And he spent hours and hours reading Big Nate

At school he competed to be a coding Wiz

At home he grew a Jedi braid to gain some Riz

He played Legos, piano, magic tricks—not mid!

He worked us in Royals, Dune and Powergrid

Basketball, baseball, football, soccer, and track

His athletic schedule was stacked! No skill did he lack.

But one fateful day while skiing with speed,

A tree loomed ahead—a crash he did NOT need.

His wrist met the trunk in a bruising embrace,

Months of recovery in a supportive wrist brace.

Yet through the ups and downs Jett’s spirits stayed high

When you need a lift or a laugh Drip Lord’s your guy!

(Jett’s wrist brace in his locker)

4.

Blake

Blake played left tackle with strength and with speed

Trained relentlessly---determined to succeed

He ate lots of protein and lifted weights

Working toward victory with his teammates

His senior season was over too soon perhaps

But the Farmington Pheonix became Region Champs

He earned Academic All State---what a feat!

Good looks, brains, and brawn---He couldn’t be beat

(Clue found on Blake’s #79 in his bedroom)

5.

Michael

In the year 2020 the whole world shut down

But we were still itching to get out of town

So we booked a trip with Adventure Idaho

Rafting down the Salmon River we would go

This year Mike returned to Riggins---now as a guide!

We took Grandpa and joined him down the rapids to ride

Mike thrifted his clothes but bought high-end gear

And navigated the rapids without any fear

He took his beloved car---despite being rusty

Cuz costly repairs had rendered it trusty

He slept in an old bus and out under the stars

With clients and friends he explored the outdoors

When people asked I said “He’s living his best life”

And he’s not in any hurry to find a wife

He came home for a bit before heading to college

For a second year filling his mind with knowledge

With a thirst for adventure and wisdom to seek

He’s carving a path that is bold and unique

(Mike’s car)

6.

Reed

The doc told your Dad “You ain’t no spring chicken.

Cut sugar and salt---avoid being stricken

By disease that is common for folk of your age

And don’t forget exercise---it’s all the rage!”

So now in the mornings your Dad can be found

On this contraption---just follow the sound

Of his favorite movies he gets to now watch

As he inclines the treadmill and walks, walks, walks, walks.

(Treadmill)

7.

Ty

When Ty left on his mission we had a good cry

From Salt Lake to Taiwan to Malaysia he’d fly

He’s working real hard to get friends in the pews

Praying for all to embrace the Good News!

It can be hard living in a new place

But Ty handles changes with style and grace

The language is tricky, the rice is real sticky

But Ty will eat anything. He is not picky!

From time to time his stomach felt quite unsettled

From bathroom to bathroom he frantically pedaled

Would there be a hole in the ground? No light to be found?

A bucket? A hose? A fan masking the sound?

Mom bought him some tissues for just such occasions

But he left them at home despite her persuasions

Will Ty learn from his troubles? That’s anyone’s guess

He should always bring tissues, cuz mama knows best!

(Hall closet tissues)

8.

Welcome to Our AirBnB

Oh, welcome, dear guest, to our humble abode,

Where chaos and comedy have clearly explode(d).

Step through the door, don’t mind the floors,

They’re sticky enough to trap dinosaurs.

Out back there’s a treasure, or so you might think,

It’s a garbage pile teetering on the brink.

Overflowing with smells that defy all reason,

A fragrant mix for every season.

The closets hold secrets, both damp and foul,

Wet towels stuffed in there, enough to make you howl.

Who needs fresh linens when mildew will do?

A scented surprise waiting just for you.

The AC is broken; it’s hotter than Hades,

A sweat-soaked inferno unfit for the ladies.

For extra spice, there’s a nearby meat farm,

Wafting its stench with pungent charm.

Hungry? Be warned, the fridge and microwave scene,

Looks ripped from the pages of CSI clean.

Ketchup carnage, mustard mayhem, oh dear,

This is the crime that no one would clear.

And the beds, oh the beds, we call them “taco supreme,”

With sagging middles straight out of a meme.

Fold yourself in, a burrito you’ll be,

Wrapped in discomfort, and possibly debris.

But wait, what’s this? An April Fools joke—

Tate locked all the bathrooms, that funny bloke!

Opa’s heroic, with tools in his hands,

Removing doorknobs as fast as he can.

Yet through it all, we laughed and survived,

The trip wasn’t ruined—we even thrived!

We cheered at the Final Four, our spirits alight,

And Michael won a basketball, signed outright,

By Bill Walton himself—what a glorious prize,

Turning mishaps to memories that light up our eyes.

So come, stay a while, and enjoy the show,

This AirBnB’s quirks are sure to grow.

Because in the end, what’s a vacation for,

If not sticky floors and surprises galore?

 9.

Ethan

After surgery, PT, and training at TOSH

Watching Ethan play b-ball again --- Oh My GOSH!

It brought tears to his Dad’s eyes and joy to his Mom’s

But playing High School football? We still had some qualms

So volleyball, biking, and golfing ensued

A spot on the basketball team he pursued

He cooked those 3-pointers (not to toot his own horn)

And I swear, he must have eaten his weight in popcorn

Ethan loves music---he’d jam to Blake’s playlist

While Linda’s been shaping him into a pianist

He sang and danced as a paperboy in Newsies

And spent every weekend up late watching movies

Game Master Supreme in Dune Imperium

Ark Nova he crushed with happy delirium.

He practiced his Spanish on DuoLingo

And now speaks so well he could be called a Gringo.

He devoured books by Brandon Sanderson

It took just over a week to finish the last one

Despite the fact it was thirteen hundred, fourty-four pages long!

You might think that’s crazy---but as a reader he’s strong

(Clue at the end of his book)

10.

Blake #2

After weight training, he’s dripping wet,

A human sponge—so much sweat!

After football, it’s just the same,

A sweaty champ at every game.

Moshing at the school dance?

He’s soaked through by the second glance!

Writing nine essays for college prep?

Not a drop—he’s cool as Pep.

Playing hoops for hours nonstop?

The sweat keeps falling, it just won’t stop!

But where does all that laundry go?

Not in his room—oh no, no, no!

He leaves it somewhere in the hall,

A sweaty heap to trip us all!

(washing machine)

 12.

Jess

Getting Scuba Certified was harder than it looked!

But on Hawaii’s Big Island our first dive was booked

We practiced at the Rec Center despite freezing temps

We had to prove to ourselves that we were not wimps!

We learned to breathe under water and equalize our ears

And discovered we are still able to overcome our fears

Diving at the Crater went better than expected

We gained confidence—our technique perfected!

Our first dive into the ocean was so fantastic

Jess came away even more enthusiastic

To snorkel in the water with her new mask and fins

And watch sea life right up close—and see the fishies swim

The highlight of our trip was the snorkel late at night

To see the Manta Rays—Oh what a sight!

What a beautiful place beneath the deep blue sea

A world full of wonder, adventure and glee!

(scuba gear)

13.

Tate

Magnets and Beyblades, Hot Wheels galore,

Sometimes he’s making Pokémon deals on the floor.

He plays baseball, basketball, football, and track,

He’s clearly not afraid of the Gunnysack!

He masterfully postpones getting ready for bed

And will snuggle in your lap as his stories are read

He swam all summer with his Cherry Hill pass,

And brought his whole crew to Miss Amy’s class.

In Cover Your Assets, he’ll steal all your cards,

And as pumpkin hunter, he’s your best guard.

After three years of preschool, kindergarten’s a breeze,

He can count to a hundred, and is learning to read.

So here’s to Tate, with his energy and cheer,

A six-year-old whirlwind, who’s loved far and near!
