Thanksgiving 2024

Hey there Ty!

I hope you had a wonderful week! We sure missed you on Thanksgiving. It just wasn’t the same without you! But I’m so grateful someone provided you a traditional Thanksgiving dinner and that you had friends from the mission to share your day with. How sweet of Elder Oldroid to leave you the last piece of Raspberry jello. That is true brotherly love right there! It sounds like you had a really nice day with the opportunity to chat with your grab driver and have a good lesson with your Indian friend. I was sitting here looking forward to talking to you tonight—and then it dawned on me that you’re not calling until Tuesday this week. Dang! I’m looking forward to hearing more about your adventures in Kuala Lumpur!

We have had a fun, busy, and relaxing---yet tiring week!

1. Dad put up the Christmas trees for me, and I’ve been working on getting them decorated this week.

2. Ethan’s Centennial team had their championship game on Monday. We lost to Shoreline by a couple of points, but it was a close game. I’m sad to see Ethan’s season over, but glad he got a change to play with the team.

3. Tuesday night Dad and I took Tate and Jett to see the play Beauty and the Beast at Davis High School and it was so good! Sooo much better than SpongeBob at FHS!

4. Jett found out he got the part of Bruce the Shark in Finding Nemo Jr. That’s the part he wanted!

4. Michael and Schlenney came home on Tuesday night to stay for the holiday weekend. It was fun to have them here.

5. It was so nice to wake up to a sweet message from you Thanksgiving morning!

6. This year for Thanksgiving we had dinner with the Rawson family at Grandma and Grandpa’s house. It was a lovely meal, and nice to not have the stress of hosting—though I did make a whole lot of food so we would still have leftovers for the weekend. I made two extra pretzel jellos just so that Schlenney could have some because I know it is his favorite. Nobody was disappointed!

7. The day after Thanksgiving we hung out at home. Apparently there was some good basketball played in the court, but I slept through it! Then I went for a walk with Leisja and we came back and played power grid. Not a bad way to spend the day!

8. Saturday all the Rawson kids went back to Jim & Becky’s for a work day. This was our Christmas present to them this year. Dad took a couple of truck loads of stuff to the dump and DI—including the blue couches from the basement. Robby and Leisja put up Christmas lights. Krysta and I deep cleaned the bathrooms and painted two of them. Adam and Matt and Robby fixed lights, hung hooks, and added cabinet nobs to the kitchen cabinets. Matt and Adam worked on finishing the fireplace are in the basement. Becky didn’t actually want a fireplace down there, so they built some bookshelves. Kelli and the younger kids helped with washing walls and baseboards, cleaning blinds, and organizing the kitchen. It was a very productive day, and I was pooped afterwards! I think Jim and Becky were pleased.

9. I came home wanting to soak in the bathtub, but first I had to slog through a 2-hour game of Parcheesi with dad and the littles.

10. Michael, Blake, and Ethan all got to go to the BYU game. BYU won, and there was a brawl in the end zone, and it was freaking cold! Sounds like BYU will not be in the Big 12 championship.

Here’s to another great week. I wish you all the best success with finding and teaching and hope you wake rested ready to work every morning!

Love you! Talk to you soon.

Xoxo, Mom
