Mom's lost her marbles (Christmas Cards)

Hello, hello!

Hi there—hope you had a great week! Hopefully it was safer than last week and no crazy men came after you with knives. How is Elder Oldroyd doing? I hope he enjoys a lovely Christmas at home with his family.

I’m in full-on Christmas Prep mode. Trying to enjoy it! This is what we had going on this week:

  1. Blake had his football banquet this week. It’s fun to celebrate the season, but it was 3 hours long! We found out one of Blake’s teammates had cancer when he was younger and it has come back—so that is sad news.
  2. I reached level 30 in Duolingo—which means I’ve basically passed off the first three “beginner” sections, and now I’m moving into an “intermediate” section. Woot!
  3. Tate and Jett had their last basketball games for the season. Dad took Tate to Jr Jazz shooting contest, and apparently he did really well!
  4. I sat down to work on Christmas card mailing labels this week. And then I searched the house high and low trying to find where I had stashed the cards. Seriously I looked all over. And then that night Dad came home and brought them in from the mail. I think I’m losing my mind!
  5. Jett got to go to mutual this week to learn how to pass the sacrament. Hard to believe he’s going to be a deacon after the New Year!
  6. Dad and I got to go to the Salt Lake Country club for a nice dinner for Dad’s company party. That’s always a highlight during the Christmas season.
  7. Saturday I was able to spend a few hours wrapping Christmas presents. Huzzah! Maybe I won’t be up all night on Christmas Eve this year!
  8. Last night Dad’s work friend Todd came over and played Ark Nova with us. Ethan worked us. That kid knows how to game!
  9. Aunt Dana was diagnosed with Celiac disease this week, and Aunt Alison got the same diagnosis a few weeks ago. Such a bummer. RIP gluten.
  10. News updates (because I know you’re dying to know!): The President of North Korea was impeached. Videos coming out of Syria have been crazy. They are freeing all of the political prisoners and showing footage of the torturous conditions people were held in. It’s really moving to watch. I hope the best for those people and hope democracy can take hold instead of ISIS and terrorists. The New York CEO killer was caught by somebody who recognized him while eating in a McDonald’s a couple of states away from New York. He had the gun and the fake New Jersey ID in his backpack, so pretty sure they got the right guy. His name is Luigi Mangione, because of course it is. He’s a young, handsome, wealthy Ivy League graduate, and people are idolizing him and writing him love letters on the internet. Wild. Also, Notre Dame was rebuilt after it burned down in 2019. Photos from the grand reopening are stunning.
Love you Ty! Hope you have a great week. Talk to you soon, Mom
