Last week of school!

Hey Ty—
It was so good to talk to you on Monday, and I enjoyed reading your letters. I’m really grateful to be able to communicate with you on a regular basis. I don’t know how missionary moms handled it when they couldn’t call for two years! I was feeling anxious for you after we said goodbye at the MTC, but being able to talk to you put me at ease. I hope your second week was as good as your first few days. Has the Chinese immersion begun? Are you adjusting to the new sleep schedule? Are you sick of eating ice cream yet?

Sam Black gave his farewell talk today. I know he was nervous about speaking, but he did such a great job. He is headed to the MTC on Wednesday, so keep an eye out for him! Christy Mortensen said they dropped off Annalise on Wednesday, but she’s been really sick with a stomach flu. What a terrible way to start out her mission! I hope she starts feeling better soon, and I hope the stomach bug doesn’t spread around the MTC!

This was a fun and busy week. We finished up piano, baseball, and school, and I’m hoping things will settle down a bit. This is what we’ve been up to:

1. Last week of school! Jett got to enjoy field day and a spray down from the Kaysville Fire Department. Also an end-of-year party with his classmates.

2. Tate had two preschool graduation programs at the Farmington library. That was pure entertainment watching the kids sing and dance. Right at the beginning of one of the programs one of the little kids was shouting loudly at the kid next to him, “EWW--Booger!” Hilarious.

3. Ethan got his yearbook on Wednesday, successfully ditched school, and got a scorching sunburn at his friend’s pool party.

4. I don’t think Blake even bothered to collect his yearbook. He left town with his buddies and went to stay in St. George for a few days. Sounds like they had a great time playing video games and hanging out in the pool. Blake came home in time to celebrate his 17th birthday with us! It was a low-key evening. We had ribs and cornbread for dinner and then he opened presents. He got a black pair of Dr. Martins to match yours, a football backplate, and some money to spend on clothes or video games.

5. Michael took Dad and Ethan out in his car to go off-roading yesterday afternoon. I declined to join them for obvious reasons.

6. We celebrated Michael's birthday today since he will be gone on his actual birthday. He got a fancy fishing pole to use on the river, and a bike helmet and shoes. He is packing up to go to Idaho tonight. There was a miscommunication and he almost got bumped off the training on the main for Wednesday. He was NOT happy. But, it seems they were able to work things out so he can be there. He showed off all his new gear to Nana and Grandpa Bramhall last night, and I know he’s really excited to spend his summer on the river.

7. I had to sit down and write a resume this week, and it was physically painful. I hate doing things like that.

8. I got a new iPhone on Friday! I’m so happy to replace my phone that was constantly malfunctioning. But, they made a mistake when porting my number, and the new phone has a new phone number.  I’m not getting phone calls, and I’m getting random texts from strangers. Hoping to get that sorted out soon.

9. Dad and I went out for an ill-fated bike ride yesterday. We made it about a mile and a half before dad got a flat tire and we had to turn around. Hopefully next time we will be more successful!

10. I think I finished making all of my returns this week. I’m not sure which was worse—having to clean out Michael’s room after he left, or having to return all of your stuff! Glad to have that task behind me! I haven’t gotten all of your old clothes sorted and put away yet, but Jett did find something in particular that he liked. Can you guess what it was?

I hope you have had a great week. Looking forward to talking to you soon!

Love, Mom
