First Week at the MTC!
Dear Elder Rawson,
I’ve been thinking about you all week. I hope your first few days at the MTC have been great! Your teacher sent a photo to Michael, on your first day, and you had a smile on your face, so I think that’s a good sign. Several of us had a good cry on the way home from the MTC. We are missing you already!
I don't have too much to say since you’ve only been gone a few days, but I’ll scrape my brain for a few updates.
1. We stopped at FatCats on the way home from Provo and played 9 holes of glow-in-the-dark mini-golf to cheer ourselves up.
2. I wanted to just go home and crawl back in to bed and mope for the day, but I had to do mom stuff. Bah. And I had to go to mutual which was hi-fit in the parking lot at the church. I wasn’t in the mood, but felt better when it was done! A good sweat is usually worth it.
3. Dad got to go to preschool for “Dad’s and donuts” with Tate, and Tate loved it!
4. Jett got his grand prize for the coding competition. His teacher was so impressed by her students’ efforts that she posted about it on Facebook and collected prizes from local business owners. So Jett came home with gift cards from Fizz, free frostys from Wendy’s and pizza coupons. He was thrilled. He brought home an amazing self portrait and poem he worked on at school. It definitely had Drip.
5. Ethan’s team played well in their basketball tournament this weekend.
6. Michael still is not over his cold. He has cleaned up his room (yay!), but seems to be having a hard time studying for his Finance exam.
7. Blake went to a lineman tournament yesterday and had a good rep against a 300 lb. 4-star recruit (Ami Moana?) who has something like 15 offers. He was pretty excited about that.
8. Dad took the kids to the Taylorsville Temple Open house Saturday night.
9. Kamryn Barrett gave her farewell talk today. She’s a bit intense, yeah? I think she starts home MTC tomorrow. Mike went to Annalise’s farewell this morning. He said she spoke about service and they had Cafe Rio for lunch. How smart is that to just cater the event and not even have to prepare all that food?!
10. I went to Provo with my parents this afternoon for a “2nd celebration of life” for my Aunt Katherine and Uncle Bob. It’s been 5 years since Kathryn passed away, and they are finally ready to bury the ashes. So we gathered to remember them today, and it was nice to see my cousins and visit with them.
I’m sure your Dad sent a much more thoughtful email with advice and spiritual thoughts, but my brain is pretty much running on fumes these days, so I don’t have much more to say. I’m looking forward to talking to you tomorrow and hearing all about life at the MTC.
Love you,
Mom
