Valentines Week

Hi Michael!

Fun to hear from you today. It sounds like you are busy, busy, busy. I’m glad you are enjoying your new companion and having an opportunity to connect with the mission president frequently. Good for you for continuing to work on your Chinese. Sounds like you had a great couple of weeks with a baptism and trip to the temple. Good luck with all of the exchanges coming up! When you get a chance, send me your new address.

1. We had a fun time celebrating Valentines Day this week. On Monday night we delivered heart shaped sugar cookies and “heart attacked” Allison Jensen’s house and Matt & Tiff’s. It was fun sneaking around.

2. On Tuesday I got to volunteer for Jett’s class party. Of course I was in charge of decorating sugar cookies. Way easier than figuring our a game or craft!

3. Dad brought home Cafe Rio for dinner and we had a romantic night to ourselves watching MoonKnight on Disney+. MoonKnight is kinda crazy, but I enjoyed it.

4. I joined a bookclub on Marco Polo with some of my Twitter friends and we discussed our first book this week. It was fun to see their faces and hear their voices off the twitter page!

5. Jett had an awesome 3rd grade program called “We are Amazing!” He’s been so excited to learn the songs and dances, and wants to perform the whole show for his dad and brothers at home.

6. On Friday I took Tate along with me to my first PTA day at the Capitol. We took Frontrunner and the bus, and it was super easy. I’m proud of navigating the transit all by myself! We had a room set aside for legislators to come meet with us and talk about legislation, and answer questions. It was a fun and interesting day even though I’m pretty much opposed to everything the legislature is doing. Tate was a champ and behaved really well.

7. That night we went to a patriotic band concert at Davis High. My friend Scott organized a community band (Harmonic Winds) and put the whole thing together. He got my old choir teacher Steve Hendricks to conduct the music. He was a beloved band/choir director at Davis for many years. Anyway. The music was great. We went to support Scott in his new endeavor.

8. On Saturday Dad and I picked up takeout from Thai Rod Dee and went to Nana and Grandpa’s house for the evening. We had a good time visiting and planning a trip to Hawaii next year. I’m excited! It will be the first time for your Dad and I to go. We are thinking about becoming scuba certified. I’m a bit nervous about that part!

9. Ethan is thinking about trying out for the school play for next year. The show is Newsies, and I think he would have a great time. His audition needs to be done in a couple of days. He’s picked the song Supercalifragilistic Expialidocious to sing. Wish him luck!

10. And finally—the big news this week—Ty got accepted to BYU! I think you may have already spoken to him about it, but we are all excited. Sounds like you two will be able to room together, and I think that will be a great experience.

As always, we miss you, and are so proud of you!

Love, Mom

Ps. Oxtail looks terrible.
