Boo to Daylight Savings

Hi Michael!

Your letters recently have been fun to read. It sounds like you are having a great time exploring other parts of the mission and doing splits with different missionaries. I’m glad you are having the experience of working with new people and especially the mission president. Growth opportunity! I think I’m going to need to explain more about what you meant when you said you “spewed some Spanish.” Were you joking about it being a gift of tongues moment? And oh my word, I can’t believe you ate a ghost pepper! I guess lesson learned? I’m excited for the progress that Felicia is making and hope everything goes smoothly for her.

This is what we’ve been up to:

1. Jett had a fun week. He was very excited to go on a field trip to see an iMax movie and get soda and popcorn!

2. Jett also had his wax museum at the school. He did his report on Buzz Aldrin, and I borrowed an awesome astronaut costume for him to wear.

3. Jett has also decided that he wants to lose weight. Poor kid. His friends told him he will be too big to play receiver on the football team, and he will have to play as an x-man. Sigh. He’s also decided he wants to be able to “buy more stuff” (specifically Pokemon cards and beyblades). So every day he asks me when he will have enough money to buy stuff. Sigh.

4. Bishop Wood was released as bishop of the Shepard ward, and he turned 50 the next week, so Allison threw him a surprise party. We got to learn about his first kiss, his sky miles, and eat chocolate cake.  It was a fun night.

5. I hosted bookclub on Thursday and had a great time putting together yummy food. Dad was thrilled that I made caramel popcorn.

6. Blake and Ty are playing church ball. Brother Jacobs says Blake is very aggressive. Surprisingly fast for a big guy!

7. Nana came over to play with Tate again on Friday. He was thrilled to have her one-on-one attention. He even got her to play the switch. Apparently she’s really good.

8. I got to go to Seattle to visit my friend Melissa with my college roommates. We had such a great time. We cleaned out her pantry and spice cabinets, took her shopping for new pillows, gave her a makeover, and stayed up late talking until all hours of the night. Old friends are the best kind of friends. Melissa lives in a beautiful neighborhood with a lot of tall pine trees. It feels like camping. She took us walking on the trail where she runs in the morning. It’s literally a forest next to a lake, and it’s just minutes away from her front door. Sigh.

9. While I was out of town, Ethan talked Dad into playing Powergrid twice. Ethan loooooves games. So does dad! Dad has been working hard lately. He needs a vacation. Spring break can’t come soon enough!

10. Boo to losing an hour for Daylight Savings. I’m tired. That is all.

Hope you have a fantastic week! Love you, Mom
