Braces, Snow, and Gingerbread Houses
Hi Michael!
It sounds like you had another great week teaching. I’m so glad Tony and Yuan are making progress. It sounds like you are doing a great job training Elders Wheeler and Greenhalgh as well. Keep up the good work! I hope you are not absolutely freezing outside every day! There should be a package arriving for you on Thursday that is intended for Christmas, but if you really need to open it early, I will understand!
Another busy weeks is in the books! News from home:
1. Ethan met with Dr. Tyson on Monday. His MRI shows that his kneecap is continuing to dislocate and needs to be repaired. He is scheduled for surgery on the 8th, and is really bummed out because it will be a 4-month recovery. We are considering getting a second opinion from a doctor at Primary Children’s Hospital who as been recommended to us. But, that doctor can’t see us until the 13th, so we would have to cancel surgery on the 8th and push it back to the 22nd which is not ideal. I'm still not sure what we are going to decide.
2. Ethan also got braces this week! The poor kid has had sore teeth all week and then had a stomach ache yesterday. Today is fast Sunday and he’s positively starving!
3. Grandpa Rawson also had surgery this week on his eye. I think it was a cornea replacement? He has to keep his eye patched. He had to spend 2 days laying down and had to keep his eyes in a particular position. He told me he was concerned about aiming correctly when he needs to use the toilet, and I told him he might need to sit for a bit! Lol. He crack me up sometimes!
4. Dad’s deal finally closed. Hallelujah! Unfortunately that didn’t mean he earned himself a work-free weekend, but he did get more tickets to take Ethan to the Jazz game. Hopefully now the deal is closed the pace will slow down at work and Dad can get a little more sleep.
5. Ethan has a Christmas choir concert on Thursday. It was fun and festive! But now he has another one on Monday and I’m confused. Why two?
6. We had TWO late start days this week because of snowfall. I don’t love snow, but I’m grateful for the water and clear air that it brings.
7. Yesterday we did one of our favorite Christmas traditions: Gingerbread Houses at Great Nana’s! Your Nana is absolutely amazing. I cannot believe she still has the energy to do things like that. She seems to be in good health, and her hearing is excellent. You kids are so lucky to have her in your lives.
8. After gingerbread houses we went to the Mongolian Grill for dinner. It was almost as good as the last time we went, but we missed having you with us!
9. Me: “Jett you look handsome!”
Jett: “No I'm not!”
Me: “Jett why do you say you want to be ugly, fat, and weird?
Jett: “Because I don’t want a wife!”
Me: “Wut”
10. I saw on Facebook that Tanner and Bryson are companions now. How fun!
I say this every week, but I am so glad you are working hard and enjoying your time as a missionary. I am so proud of you! I hope you have another productive week full of miracles.
