Party Time!
Hi Michael!
I hope you had a great week. I’m so glad you got to go the the temple this week. It sounds like it was a really great day. Wish you could have seen Elder Mordue! I have to say that your shaved ice dessert has me intrigued. I would probably even try it with the red beans! I’m sorry to hear that some of your friends are struggling. Keep working hard to teach and serve them. You are making a positive impact in each of their lives, and we are very proud of the work you’re doing.
We’ve had another busy week---
1. Baseball, basketball, soccer, karate, and football. So many sports! Ethan’s baseball season is coming to a close, and basketball is ramping up—though Ethan has injured his knee, so he may need to take it a bit more slowly than he would like. The swelling has come down a lot and it’s looking much better. Hopefully we don’t repeat this cycle all winter long. Jett had his last outdoor game and will be transitioning to indoor soccer soon. This week at karate there were a lot more kids and Jett enjoyed it more. Blake has been practicing with the varsity team, but they had a bye this week. He did get to go Ax throwing with the varsity team on Wednesday night, so that was fun for him.
2. Ethan had a choir concert this week, and it was so fun to go watch him sing. His choir performed Monster Mash, and he got to sing a solo and dress up like a Mad Scientist. He did such a great job and didn’t seem nervous at all. Ethan also got to go repelling for the first time with the Deacons. He said it was the “scariest, best day of my life!"
3. Tate and I went to Black Island Farms for a field trip with his preschool class. We rode the tractor out to the pumpkin patch to choose pumpkins, and then Tate played with his friends on the slides and bounce house. I had to drag him out of there!
4. Ty took the ACT again on Saturday morning. It’s his new favorite Saturday morning pastime.
5. Jett had a birthday party with his friends on Saturday night. We played minute-to-win-it games, and night games in the back yard with glow-in-the-dark bracelets. I think it was fun for all of the boys, and I'm so happy to have it behind me. I find throwing birthday parties extremely stressful. Being in charge of entertaining 9-year-olds gives me severe anxiety!
6. Because Jett had a birthday party, Tate has been planning his own. It will be at Coconut Cove, and he will receive the entire Amazon gift catalogue. And his girlfriend Audrey will be there. Lol. He’s obsessed with talking about this birthday party and circling what toys he wants in the catalogue. He doesn’t seem to understand that he won’t have another birthday until next summer. So I have about 9 months to stress about throwing the perfect 5-year-old party. His expectations are high.
7. Ty broke his phone again. We’ve already had the screen repaired twice at $100 a pop. So, it’s time for a new phone. We found out that Grandpa gets a really great military discount at T-mobile and can add people to his plan. So I went in this week to get Ty a new phone and switch over his plan. They were having a BOGO deal, and we decided to upgrade Blake at the same time. It was a ROYAL hassle. I went to the T-mobile store at least 7 times in 4 different locations. But now your brothers have super nice phones and hopefully we won’t have to replace them for a very long time! I might actually get a new phone this week as well. Everyone’s happy. Except for maybe your dad who absolutely loathes having to but phones for children!
8. Dad has been working a LOT. I swear I sleep probably twice as much as he does. He’s up early in the morning, and up late at night. Good news is that he’s no longer behind in his hours, and should meet his hours requirement by the end of the year. Bad news is that he’s working a lot.
9. The weather has turned. It was warm all week until Saturday when the winds changed. Sunday morning we woke up to snow in the mountains. Sadly, I did not get my yard work completed before the cold came. Today I need to go check on my grapes. I think it’s time to harvest them and make grape juice! You can smell them just walking along the side of the house.
10. The best news of the week is that you have TWO new nieces! Kelsey had her babies Saturday morning around 3 am. They are named Remi and Piper. I can’t wait to see them in person.
I hope you have a great week. Enjoy those bicycles while the weather is nice enough to ride them. Do you have anything fun planned for Halloween? We look forward to hearing more about the people you are teaching. We think about you often. Jett asked yesterday when the next time would be that he could talk to you. So maybe the next time you call I can let him chat with you for a few minutes.
Love you!
