Going out for a pass
Dear Michael,
How has your week been? Did Jenny have her baptism last weekend? I hope everything went smoothly! It sound like you really have a lot going on and a lot of people to teach. You must feel busy! Especially with training new missionaries. Sounds fun and challenging and fulfilling. It’s fun to hear about your restaurant friends. It sounds like they are treating you well! I want to try one of those boba drinks, but I’m not so sure about the red bean snow cones. I’m jealous you got to go to the Museum of Fine Art. Those Obama portraits are amazing.
Just another crazy busy week around here. The weather has been absolutely amazing—blue skies and sun with a few heavy rain and lightning storms. I love it.
1. This was Homecoming week at the high school. The day your brothers were most excited for was “Dress like Adam Sandler Day.” How do these kids even know who Adam Sandler is?! The funny thing is that Dad and I went to visit Dan and Alisa for dessert last night. I got talking to their daughter Anna and she said they did the same thing at her high school for Homecoming last week!
2. The Homecoming game was Friday night, and we won against Roy. Blake wasn’t able to get any varsity playing time this week. So it was a good time for me to work concessions. It brought me right back to my old snack bar days.
3. Blake’s game was on Thursday. We lost pretty badly to Roy. But. BUT…the coaches created a pass play for Blake and ran it twice! He caught both passes and had close to 30 yards! I was so surprised! I’ll send the video clip, but I’m not sure if you will be able to watch it? On the second pass he caught the ball, did a spin move, ran past a player or two, and then just bulldozed his way forward. It was sweet, and his teammates were so excited for him. That was fun to watch. He still says he would rather have a really great pancake than a pass. I think that’s a lot of pressure that you can relate to!
4. Ty did his day date for Homecoming on Wednesday night. He took Annalise. They had a group date and had a pizza making competition. Ty and Annalise got to be the judges, and he had SO MUCH FUN. I love seeing him branch out and make new friendships. He’s been much more social this year.
5. Ty took Annalise to the dance on Saturday. I forgot to have him send me pictures, so I’ll have to send those next week. They had dinner at Brock’s house again, and had a great time. He is planning a ski trip in December with the same group of boys.
6. Dad had tickets to the Bees game this week and was able to invite clients to join him in the suite for dinner. Tate got to come with us and he was so cute meeting the Bee. All of dad’s clients spoke very highly of him and were so appreciative of the work he does for them. That’s so nice to hear.
7. The house kinda feels like a bomb went off inside. I’m just picking away at this garage organization project, and it’s spreading to every room in the house. Hopefully after I’m done, the storage areas will be purged of unneeded items, and will be easier to maintain.
8. This week on “what’s broken at the Rawson house,” we have a kitchen faucet that fell off it’s base, a stupid water heater that’s given up the ghost (again), and a car door handle that just doesn’t want to set up. Yay for me.
9. Jett is in a competition at school to read the most books and finish book reports on them. He’s a bit competitive and completely obsessed. So far all of the books he has read for the competition have been Big Nate books. In case you were wondering, Jett is still wearing his shirts backwards. His new thing that he loves to say all of the time is “How dare you?” He’s such a little weirdo.
10. Today in church we had Fast Sunday. The bishop bore his testimony and spoke about how studying Psalms and Isaiah for weeks had been hard for him. So he decided to write his own Psalm and he read it to us. It was just his own simple words declaring his devotion to the Lord. I would never think to do something like that. He expressed his love for everyone in the ward, and it reminded me that he is coming up on his 5 years and will be released soon. He’s been such a good Bishop and has served our family in so many ways. I will miss having him lead the ward.
OK, that’s all I’ve got tonight. I hope you have a fantastic week. Love you!
Mom
