Letters to my Children

Hi Michael! I hope you had a great week and were able to find some people to teach despite finals week and the holidays. It sounds like you are learning a lot and every day is an adventure. I hope things are going well with your new companion. I know there are some things that frustrate you, but I hope you can learn from his unique experience and talents.   Happenings at home: 1. Dad has been sick for about a week. He has been sleeping downstairs in your old bed and is desperate to prove to me that he is no longer contagious. But he keeps making horrible hacking sounds and I’m not quite ready to share a bedroom with him again! The sickness is making a slow creep through the house. Tate had it first. Then Dad, then Blake, now Ethan. I'm holding out and and repeatedly scolding people for not washing their hands. I’m too busy right now to get a stupid cold just before Christmas! Hi Michael! I hope you had a great week. I enjoyed the emails you sent. It sounds like you have been very busy with the move and making new contacts. I’m glad you like your companion and hope you are becoming good friends. Each new companionship will bring challenges and opportunities. You have the ability to be a leader and a peacemaker, and also to learn from your companion’s strengths. Hopefully you are getting some good Chinese conversation so you can continue to learn the language.  Keep working hard! How is the apartment coming along? Whyyyyy didn’t you have heat? Has it been a 10 days without heat? Or did you get it all sorted out? I wonder why they didn’t have you just stay with the Waltham elders until the heat was turned on? Have you been able to get the apartment stocked with essentials? What about window coverings? At very least you could cover the window with the light at night with cardboard or even tinfoil. Haha! Hey there! I hope you had a great week. I’m excited to hear about your move and your new companion. You sent me your new address and I googled it to see if I could figure out if the mailing address should go to Allston or Boston. Google puled up pictures of an apartment at that location that I think might be yours. It looks like a nice place! Maybe you can show us around your place on our next Messenger call. I hope you are enjoying a new change of scenery and new opportunities for teaching. And I hope you get along well with your new companion. How did the move go? Were you able to fit all of your things back in your suitcase? Did your plants survive? Your cactus looks like my Christmas cactus. Although mine is really sad looking and I'm thinking about throwing it away.  It's supposed to bloom once a year, but mine never does.
